The 2024 Shanghai Disabled Persons' Online Cultural Event Series brings a special theme "In the Name of the Motherland", inviting 88-year-old veteran Gu Zuen to enter the training ground and have a red dialogue across time and space with disabled athletes who are about to set off for Paris, France to participate in the Paralympic Games. The entire process will be broadcast live to the majority of disabled people and netizens from all walks of life through the Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation's Weibo live broadcast room.

Last night, Paralympic athletes preparing for the Paris Paralympic Games attended a special party class at the Shanghai Culture and Sports Promotion Center. Gu Zuen, an 88-year-old veteran of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army and the 2013 national "Good Person Who Is Honest and Trustworthy", encouraged everyone: "As long as you keep the motherland in your heart, remember to 'win glory for the motherland' and do your best, you can overcome all difficulties. Are you ready to go to Paris to participate in the Paralympic Games?" The athletes shouted "Ready" in unison, with great momentum and full of confidence.

The prosperity of the motherland today is inseparable from the sacrifices and dedication of the "most lovely people". Their patriotism has inspired generations of people to dedicate themselves to the country. Mr. Gu's story was touching and inspiring. The athletes on the scene listened attentively and took out their mobile phones to take pictures from time to time. When Mr. Gu talked about his hope that the athletes would fight bravely and return with honor in Paris, he stood up solemnly and saluted. After the event, everyone was even more enthusiastic to "chase stars" and took photos with Mr. Gu. They were determined to pass on this patriotism and fighting spirit, and carry forward the spirit of the Volunteer Army of "not afraid of death and not afraid of hardship" to the field, and salute victory with victory!
